PIERRE GARCON NEWS
A QB's Favorite Stat
Known for his violent play at a skill position, Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garçon leads the NFL in a stat that might be hard to track but probably means the most to quarterbacks. Per Pro Football Focus, Garçon has zero drops this season.
Kirk Cousins has targeted Garçon 73 times this year, though not all of those targets have been catchable. Of the passes PFF determined Garçon could catch, he has caught them all, which makes his 52 catch, 606 yards stat line with two touchdowns that much more impressive. Garçon is one of 11 players with zero drops on the year, but only Denver's Emmanuel Sanders and Green Bay's Randall Cobb have more catches without a drop.
Garçon is one piece of a deep and talented offense. He competes with DeSean Jackson, Jamison Crowder and Jordan Reed for looks and Cousins' attention, but always dutifully does his part for the Redskins.
It's well known that Garçon will be a free agent after this season - along with Jackson - and it's uncertain what will happen next for the tough 6-foot, 210 lb. wideout. At 30-years-old, Garçon will have suitors, but in the NFL since 2008 and with Washington since 2012, Garçon knows how the free agency process works.
The Redskins have five games remaining, and if they win enough, perhaps a playoff run after that. Garçon is probably not thinking about free agency or even the offseason, but when that time arrives, his drop rate will undoubtedly be something worth bragging about to potential employers.
